A native of Adams County, he was born November 13, 1870, a son of the late Jacob & Catherine (Englebert) Eckert. He was a farmer in the Table Rock area
until his retirement about 20 years ago following the death of his wife, the former Emma J. Golden. For the last 19 years he had resided with a son-in-law and daughter, Mr. & Mrs. Donald Garretson, Aspers R. 1.
Surviving are six children: Lawrence H. Eckert, Gettysburg R. 1; Willis F. Eckert, Gettysburg; Mrs. Ella Mauss, Gettysburg R. 4; Mrs. Ervin Hess, Gettysburg R. 3; Mrs. Glenn Slaybaugh, Biglervile; and Mrs. Donald Garretson, Aspers R. 1, with whom he resided.
Also surviving are 18 grandchildren and a brother, Calvin Eckert, Alliance, Ohio. He was a member of Bender's Lutheran Church. Gettysburg Times Dec 14, 1959.
