"Mrs. J. D. Brown's Death Occurs Home on DePriest Branch -
Mrs. Dorothy Breece Brown, 71, wife of the late James D. Brown, died at her home with a son Leroy Brown on DePriest Branch near Farmer's Exchange on June 15, following brief illness.
Funeral services at Bethel M. E. Church, South at Farmer's Exchange on Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock were conducted by the Rev. Mr. Hensley of Hohenwald and burial was beside the grave of her husband, who died in Aug. 1898.
Surviving are children: Osco Brown of Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Hollis Thompson of Memphis, C. W. Brown of Hohenwald, Mrs. Otto Lynch of Aetna and Leroy, with whom she made her home; one daughter by a later marriage, Mrs. J. E. Chessor; one brother and one sister, Joel Breece and Mrs. Molly Quillen; several grandchildren and more distant relatives with many friends throughout her home community.
Pallbearers were her grandsons, Brown Chessor, Hollis Thompson, Jr., David Lynch and Hollis Brown.
Mrs. Brown was the former Miss Dorothy Breece and was born in this county on Oct. 23, 1867.
She was married to Mr. Brown in 1883 and they were the parents of six children, those surviving and a daughter, Laura who died in infancy. She was a member of the Methodist church and one of the best known and most beloved women of her home community."
