Born in Corinth, MS to Henry Overstreet and Cecile Redding Caffey, he grew up in Jackson, TN and graduated with the class of 1936 from Jackson High School and this is where he met his wife, Elizabeth Seaman.
Mr. Caffey served in the Army Air Corps where he trained cadets and flew overseas missions in WWII. After the war, he was a pilot for American Airlines. Flying was his love and hobby.
He moved to Blytheville in 1953 where he was owner of C and W Laundry Cleaners, which later became Advance Industries. He was president there until he retired in 1987 and moved to Brentwood, TN. He moved back to Blytheville in 2007.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elizabeth Seaman Caffey; sister, Carolyn (Mrs. Jim) Caffey Masterson and his beloved aunt, Bonitha Caffey of Guys, TN.
Hugh was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Blytheville, a member and president of the Blytheville Lions Club, an active member of Gideon's International and also served on the board of the Mississippi County Union Mission.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at 1:00pm at Ridgecrest Cemetery in Jackson, TN. The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 28, 2012 from 6-8pm at Cobb Funeral Home. Online register may be signed at cobbfuneralhome.com
