Madeline Tolley, 91, of McLeansboro died 1:09 a.m. Oct. 14, 2004, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind.
She worked several years at the former Decatur Garment Co. in McLeansboro and also worked as a sales clerk.
Mrs. Tolley was born June 2, 1913, in Delafield to Marshall E. and Della Mattie (Yoder) Cross. She married the Rev. Elvis W. Tolley Dec. 9, 1930; he died in 1963.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Saturday Oct. 17 at Delafield Missionary Baptist Church. The Revs. John Lee Jr. and Robert Deitz Officiated. Burial followed at Blooming Grove Cemetery near McLeansboro. The body lied in state at the church from 1:30 p.m. until the service.
visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct 16th at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
Mrs. Tolley is survived by a son, Ronald Tolley and wife Sue of Hinesville, Ga.; three granddaughters, Lora Peppard and husband Jonathan of Johnson City, N.Y., Julia LeSage and husband Garrett of Boston, Mass., and Rachel Wood and husband Lyle of Johnson City, Tenn; and brothers and sisters Merville Cross of Waterloo, Iowa, Ellis Cross of Waterloo, Iowa, Charles Cross of Waterloo, Iowa, Harold E. Cross of McLeansboro, Louella Bergmier of Angola, Ind., Maxine Carr of Waterloo, Iowa, Georgia Nickerson of Richmond, Va., and Shirley Merritt of Lobi, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Eugene Cross; and an infant brother, Ivan Cross.
Mrs. Tolley was a member of Delafield Baptist Church.
