Jacob D. Holtzapple, Sr., local merchant, died at 10:30 o'clock last night at his home, 14 North Main street. He was 61.
A life-long resident of the community, Mr. Holtzapple operated a grocery store here the past 10 years. Previously he was employed as a silk weaver in York. He was a member of Shiloh Lutheran church.
Surviving are: His wife, Mrs. Iva Gross Holtzapple; seven children. Mrs. Harry Myers and Mrs. Charles Dentler, both of Dover; Jacob D., Jr., Dale, and Gerald Holtzapple and Mrs. Jacob Diehl, all of York, and Alvin Holtzapple, at home; 13 grandchildren and four sisters and a brother, Mrs. Walter Martin, Mrs. Augustus Carbaugh and John Holtzapple, all of York, and Mrs. Raymound Baum and Mrs. Emory Fackler, both of Shiloh.
Funeral services will be held at the Emig Funeral home, Queen street, Wednesday at 2 p.m. Rev. Jacob Zepp, pastor of Dover EUB charge, will officiate. Interment will be in Shiloh cemetery.
