NEW HOLLAND -- Robert Eugene Babbs, 76, of New Holland died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004, at 1:45 p.m. at his home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Holland and Barry Funeral Home in Lincoln.

His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holland and Barry.

Burial will be in Zion Cemetery, Lincoln.

Mr. Babbs retired from Myers Industries in Lincoln.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

He was born Oct. 28, 1927, at Newton to Melvin and Martha Anderson Babbs. He married Madonna P. Wetherholt on Oct. 16, 1946, at Morgan Field, Ky..

He is survived by his wife; three sons, Danny (and Patricia) Babbs of Middletown, Allen (and Frances) Babbs of Lincoln and Bruce (and Carol) Babbs of Newton; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bill Babbs and Warren Babbs, both of Tuscola; and one sister, Betty Wagner of Tuscola.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two grandsons and one great-grandson.

He was of the Christian faith.

He was a member of American Legion Post 263 in Lincoln.
