Maybelle was one of thirteen children born to Stephen F and Maggie Orr Beck where she was educated in the American Fork school system. While growing up in Highland and American Fork she enjoyed her wide circle of warm, wonderful, friends and activities; she and her girlfriends remained an unbroken chain throughout their adult lives meeting for lunch year after year sharing their lives, joys and heartaches well into elder age. After her marriage to Calvin they made their home in Pleasant Grove where they raised their two children while being actively involved in the church and community surrounded by extended family. Maybelle worked for the government ration office, US Steel Geneva Works, Harrington Elementary school, and later for Utah Power & Light Company for thirty years as an Executive Secretary and then as a Benefits Specialist in Salt Lake City. She was also involved in various clubs and civic organizations including the Alpine Country Club Women's Association, and Pleasant Grove Auxiliary Fireladies Association. She also enjoyed serving in many ward and stake callings in both leadership and teaching positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; she and dad also served a welfare mission together for the Church.
Maybelle was a joy to know, she made many life-long friendships through her diverse activities and associations and was known for being a very cheerful, loving, caring, kind, compassionate individual with a most joyous sense of humor. Throughout her life Maybelle enjoyed outdoor activities such as camping, fishing and golf; she also enjoyed homemaking skills, reading, and creating works of art through cross stitch and crocheting. In addition, she and Cal also loved traveling throughout the country; highlights included several trips to Alaska, Hawaii, California, the Oregon coast, New York, Washington DC, military reunions in South Dakota and especially back East to spend time with her daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren wherein they traveled extensively together as a family throughout the East. Spending time with her immediate and extended family brought Maybelle her greatest joy. Our "mother dear" was truly a remarkable woman and deeply loved!
Maybelle is survived by her daughter Rebecca and son in law Jon Christeson of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and her two grandchildren Cameron and Ashley. Also, by brothers Dallen Beck, Pleasant Grove, Malcolm Beck, American Fork, Duane Beck, Bountiful, and Von Beck, Louisiana. She was preceded in death by her husband Calvin Bullock Mills, (2008) and son Calvin Beck Mills (2009); her parents Stephen and Maggie Beck and siblings: James, Roma, Vivian, Cora, Feryl, Ray Lee, Theron and Arlen Beck

We would like to thank the excellent, loving care given our mother by the "caring team" of the Beehive Home American Fork South who were devoted to mom! We also extend heartfelt thanks to all compassionate caregivers including our loving aunts and uncles who unselfishly helped care for our sweet mother helping to make her quality of life exceptional! As I've always said, she will remember each act of kindness once again in Heaven.
