Thanks cousin!

His wife was named Colleen Mae (Thomas)Blakey. She was from Omaha, NE.

He was on his way home and stopped for a drink at a local bar. He ran into a drunk white man who didn't like him because of the racial tensions at the time and called him the N word.

When George a pacifist tried to walk away he was confronted by the guy who this time pulled a gun. George put his hands up in the air. His last words were "So this is how you want it to be." and the guy shot him to death.

This comes from Colleen and Uncle Ted and Aunt Rose. She was never quite the same and moved back to Omaha for her families support until she passed August 16th 1990.

She was a deeply religious woman. He was an independent trucker who hauled produce and even took jobs as a referee for fights. A really good, honest and thoughtful man.

You can add what you want but as his adopted daughter I thought it would be nice to include his wife. I do believe his is buried along with his brother LeRoy and family.

Checked •U.S., Social Security Death Index, 1935-Current: There was Colleen M. Blakey who passed away on 16 Oct 1990 in Omaha, Douglas, Nebraska

George Blakey age 36 married Colleen Mae THOMAS at age 26; in Oct of 1947 ~ A7864
