Adam C. Cook Obituary
Funeral service for Adam C. Cook, who died Sunday, January lst, at the age of 88, was held at the Wadena Presbyterian church on Tuesday of last week. Rev. Hignett, pastor of the Arlington Christian church, officiated, assisted by Rev. S.V.Curnock, Wadena. Burial was in the Wadena Cemetery.
Nephews of Mr. Cook served as pallbearers. They included August Schmidt, Frank Schmidt and Milo Whittenbaugh, Oelwein; Bert Cook, Lamont: Bill Cook, Cresco and Walter Schrock, Wadena.
Born In Ohio
Mr. Cook was born near Mansfield, Ohio, Novembeer 10, 1850, and came with his parents to Iowa in 1855 in a covered wagon. He was the last survivor of his family, which included nine children and his mother and father, Henry and Matilda Cook.
In 1818, Adam was asked by his father to remain on the home farm and care for them in their declining years, which he did until their deaths in 1883 and 1891.
Wed in 1891
On June 11, 1891, he was married to Maggie Whittenbaugh, and to this union five children were born. Of this family, four children survive with their mother. They include Walter Cook, at home, John Cook, Lamont; Albert Cook, at home; and Luella, Mrs Albert Kieger, St. Paul, MN.
