Dr. WATERMAN ELLSWORTH (5)--
Stukeley (4), Judiah (3), Arthur (2), Arthur (1)--was born in Hartwick, Otsego Co., N. Y., Dec. 14, 1797, and married, Feb. 26, 1826, at Stockton, Chautauqua Co., N. Y., Rosina LYON, born at Ashfield, Franklin Co., Mass., May 6, 1799, a sister of Mary LYON, the founder of Mount Holyoke Seminary, and whose brother, Aaron LYON, also dwelt at Stockton.
Waterman was quite a prominent practicing physician, supervisor of Stockton, the town in which he dwelt, and in 1839 was a member of the New York State Assembly. His wife Rosina died at Stockton Aug. 18, 1832, and was buried there.

ii Hazelius (6) b. Nov. 14, 1828; he adopted his father's chosen profession, his third course of lectures at the University of New York being interrupted by the death of his father in Jan. 1849. He removed to Eugene City, Ore., in 1863, where he continued the practice of and also engaged in trade as a druggist. He was unmarried.
iii Franklin b. Aug. 14, 1830, m. Julia R. McLANE. to CA
iv Henry Martyn b. May 5, 1832, m. Marietta PIERCE to Utah (AY)
Waterman was married a second time to Sarah Smith PIERCE, of Stockton, who was born Sept. 5, 1813, in Clarendon, Rutland Co., Vt.

v Rosina Julina (6) b. Nov. 24, 1840, died Jan. 12, 1841.
vi Rosina Manerva (6) b. Feb. 4, 1844, d. April 20, 1844.
vii Clay Waterman Pierpont ELLSWORTH (6) b. Aug. 20, 1845, m. Hester Amy BROWN.
Dr. Waterman Ellsworth died at Stockton Jan. 6, 1849, much lamented by the common people. His widow remained in Stockton until September, 1881, when she joined her son in Oregon.

Dr. Waterman ELLSWORTH was a son of Stukely Ellsworth a State Senator in Otsego Co NY, he was a descendant of Abel ELLSWORTH, ( AYLESWORTH as it was then spelled) whose wife was Amy FRANKLIN, Sister of Benjamin FRANKLIN.
A plain but substantial monument in the burying ground at Delanti, marks the resting place of his remains, and all the early settlers of Stockton and many others scattered over this wide county, hold him in grateful remembrance.
