Roman C. Vaverek, a resident of Little Falls, MN, died Dec. 28, 2002, at the Veterans Administra-tion Hospital in St. Cloud, MN.
Mass of Christian Burial was Dec. 31 at Our Lady Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls with Father Mark Innocenti of ficiating. Burial was in the Our Lady of Lourdes Parish cemetery.
Roman C. Vaverek was born Feb. 17, 1922, in Sobieski, MN, to the late John and Mary (Sowada) Vaverek. He was raised in the Sobieski area. He graduated from Little Falls High School in 1941. Roman was united in marriage to Stella Lyshik June 1, 1943, in Flensburg, MN. He was inducted into the U.S. Army May 5, 1945, and was honorably discharged in September of 1945. The couple moved to Sobieski where they farmed until 1962. Roman then owned and operated Vaverek’s Grocery Store in Little Falls and worked at Hennepin Paper for 23 years until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of Knights of Columbus and Our Lady of Lourdes Parish.
Survivors include his wife Stella Vaverek of Little Falls; sons, Wayne Vaverek and wife Diana of Cushing, MN, and Alan Vaverek and wife Brenda of Little Falls; daughters, Jackie Jensen and husband Duane of Sauk Rapids, MN, Deanne Gavigan and husband Jim of St. Paul, MN, Fay Waldoch and husband Don of Little Falls and Linda Drong of Waite Park, MN; and one sister, Lee England of Chicago, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; great-granddaughter, Zoe; five brothers and three sisters.
Casketbearers were Ryan, Andy and Dustin Vaverek, Sandy Rebbe, Robert Eix, Tanya Boser, Ben Drong and Lisa Kuchinski.
