Louis Davis Found Dead Thursday A. M.
Many Takes On Real Christmas Spirit

DIED IN EARLY PART OF MORNING

Local Farmer Succumbs to Heart Failure at Home Near Many.

Louis Francis Davis, age 43, was found dead in his bed at about six o'clock Thursday morning.

Louis was in Many Wednesday and seemed to be in perfect health when he retired that night. He was found dead in his bed by his wife when she called him Thursday morning, he having slept in a bed by himself at his home three miles northwest of Many.

No coroner's inquest was held, the coroner, Dr. J. K. Phares visiting the body and declared that death came from heart failure probably at about eleven o' clock during the night.

At the time the Index went to press early Thursday morning no funeral arrangements were made, he being from a large family, many of whom live from Many, and a little time will be required.

Mr. Davis is survived by his widow, Mrs. Leattie Robinson Davis and five children, three girls and two boys.

Mr. Davis was the son of Mrs. Anna and the late Francis Davis, pioneers of this section, and had spent the greater part of his life in timber and farming industries in Sabine parish.

Mr. Robert Davis,
Port Arthur Tex,

Dear Robert,

Will try and write you a few lines today, guess you think I'm not going to write at all.

Its raining here today sure glad to see it. Sure has been dry up here and for so long. Was out home yesterday evening Georgie carried us out there first time we've been out there in a long time. They are making syrup out there-guess they are having a sloppy old time today. Guess some of the folks have told you about me falling and hurting my ribs so bad, haven't they? Sure have had a lot of pain in my side and it likes a lot of being well yet, So you have gained 13 lbs. since you went to Port Arthur, pretty good if you keep gaining that way you will soon be a good size man.

Guess you all had a lot of fun when Gilbert got married from what Mary and Alice wrote.

How long do you think it will take you to finish the course you are taking?

You said you would need about $55.00 more before Xmas. I am sending check for $60.00 you may need a few Dimes more.

Well I am loafing on the job so guess I'd better quit for this time. Write us when you can and tell Mary + Alice to write too.

Leattie + the Boys are all very well.

Your Brother,
Louis
