William Grady Axum, Jr., age 78, of Rockwall, Texas, was born August 5, 1933 in El Dorado, Arkansas, and passed away January 24, 2012 at Rockwall. He was a financial officer for the U. S. Army, where he proudly served his country. He was an excellent craftsman, and made jewelry, woodcarvings, and leatherwork. He also collected and refurbished antiques.
He also loved fishing, hunting and gardening, and genuinely loved working with his hands. He made it a point to attend every sporting event for his children, and was a wonderful father and loving husband. He will be dearly missed by his family.
William is survived by his wife Marilyn; his sons, William G. Axum III (Trey); Mark R. Axum and wife Debra; daughter Stephanie Zucco; grandchildren Diana and Jon Zucco; Ryan and Kate Axum; twin sisters Arlene and Erlene; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends, and beloved pets Sadie and Graci.
In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association of America.
Graveside services were held Friday, January 27, 2012 at 9:45am at DFW National Cemetery.
