On July 29, 2005 the following was put in the Modesto Bee on Bill's First Angel Day by his wife and family:
You left for a leave of absence as you call it; and you are sorely missed. You asked us to be cheerful, and we try. We are grateful for all who helped ease your way in your last agony, and who help us still. Mostly, we are grateful to our Precious Lord for lending you to us. The Accent Homes, the doctors and nurses, and to Memorial Hospital for their excellent care and caring, to our many friends and clergy, we say thanks. Remember "Little Things Mean a lot." Till we meet again your wife, Magee", your sis and step mom and all the children, grands and great grands.
