Katie Elizabeth Tobey, 89, went to be with her Lord on July 27, 2004. She was born on November 7, 1914, in Columbus, Georgia. She was the youngest in the family of four sisters and two brothers, all now deceased. She was the widow of A. Linscott Tobey, retired from Independent Life Insurance Company, very active in volunteering with the Democratic Women's Club in Orange Park. She was an accomplished seamstress and upholsterer, loved gardening, especially amaryllis. She spent many years helping with the grandsons' little league teams. She learned to drive at age 65 and lived independently until illness forced her into assisted living in March 2004. She is survived by daughter, Gayle Kellum (Buddy) of Fernandina Beach; stepdaughter, Grace Tobey of Jacksonville; grandsons: Eric Adams (Lynn) and Tobey Adams; great grandchildren: Ty Adams (5 yrs), Taylor Adam (3 yrs) and Katie Adams (1 yr). Family will receive friends on Thursday, July 28, 2004, 6:30-8:30 PM and funeral services wil l be held Friday, 11 AM at HARDAGE-GIDDENS RIVERMEAD FUNERAL HOME, 127 Blanding Blvd., Orange Park with Pastor Donald L. Cooley officiating. Interment will follow in Jacksonville Memory Gardens (Masonic Gardens).
