Melvin passed away at an early age, noted as Sudden Infant Death Syndrome and Pneumonia.
No stone is placed at his grave. The family had been picking cotton in the fields of Walnut Ridge and Hoxie when the child suddenly passed. The child's grandfather, James Alfred Neal had taken up a collection from fellow field workers to assist in the costs of burial. The father, Frankie Lewis Kamery, and his father-in-law, James Alfred Neal had placed a metal post at the graves location. To this date, no stone had ever been placed.
