Wife of Paul Henning (1911-2005), creator of the Petticoat Junction, Green Acres, and the Beverly Hillbillies. Ruth was the creavtive force behind all of Paul's ideas. Both Paul and Ruth favored creating Rural-based shows, that went along with their Missouri roots. It was Ruth not Paul that came up with the idea of Petticoat Junction. Ruth's grandparents had owned a tiny hotel near the Rock Island Railroad station in Eldon, Mo., and she'd told her husband many a tale from the days when she and her female cousins would visit. Henning ran with the concept and Hooterville, the Shady Rest hotel, the C.F. & W. Railroad and the Cannonball were born, an instant hit. She worked just as hard on them as he did, but took none of the credit. Ruth was one of the nicest people you could ever meet. Ruth was the mother of three children Carol Alice, actress Linda Kay Henning, and Paul Anthony Henning. Ruth died suddenly of a heart attack at age 88. Paul joined her 3 years later on March 25, 2005.
