Uncle Charlie was the 4th of nine children. He attended Chelsea Grade School, graduating with his sister, Ethel, in 1918. He loved baseball and played in amateur leagues around the city. Uncle Charlie never married. He was a favorite with his nieces and nephews, teasing them relentlessly. He was a clerk for the Kansas City Southern Railroad for 43 years, retiring in 1962. His father built the family home at 2207 Franklin before 1915 and Uncle Charlie lived there until he died.
