O.G. Young, 88 of Port Lavaca passed away May 7, 2012. He was born May 15, 1923 in Rockport, Texas to the late O.G. Young, Sr. and Clara Thompson Young. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Port Lavaca and served in the Merchant Marines. Mr. Young and his wife started Young Plumbing in their home in 1956. In recent years he has dedicated most of his time to his two car washes.
Mr. Young is survived by his wife of 67 years, Florene Bales Young of Port Lavaca; son, Harold G. Young and wife Lennis of Port Lavaca; sisters, Hazel Adams of San Antonio and Mary Thomas and husband A.W. of Indianapolis, Indiana; 2 grandchildren, Teresa Weaver and husband Pete of New Braunfels and Tamara Niquette and husband John of Conroe; 5 great-grandchildren, Peyton Weaver, Preston Weaver, Ashlyn Niquette, Sean Niquette and Sydnee Niquette.
In addition to his parents, O.G. was preceded in death by his sister, Leona Stroud; and 3 brothers, Leslie Young, Wilford Young and Allen Young.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Port Lavaca with the Rev. Mike Gresham and Tim Adams officiating. Burial will follow at the Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Pete Weaver, John Niquette, Bill Harlan, Jim Harlan, Mike Young and Gary Young. Honorary Pallbearers are the members of the Whataburger Coffee Group.
Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Port Lavaca at 902 Calhoun, Port Lavaca, TX 77979.
