Vallory Cook Orren
ODESSA On July 29, 2001, Vallory Cook Orren stepped into the everlasting arms of her Lord and Savior.

Vallory was born Oct. 4, 1934, in Stephenville to Sawnie and Buton Cook and moved to Odessa in 1939. She attended Northside Elementary, the old Crockett Junior High and Odessa High School.

On March 7, 1952, Vallory married William Kenneth Orren and during their 49 years together raised five children.

Vallory was a housewife and dedicated mother. She took a very active role in the lives of her children, serving as room mother, PTA member, Cub Scout Den Leader, Permian Band Booster and chaperone for the Permian Kantorei Choir. Having had five children attend Permian High School, Vallory became an avid Mojo football fan and held season tickets for over 20 years. She also spent countless hours doing intricate beadwork for members of the Lakota Indian Dance Team and was an avid supporter of the Boy Scouts of America.

Having raised her children, Vallory turned her energy in new directions. She became very active in the Womens Auxiliary at Medical Center Hospital and spent many hours in service there. Vallory was a member of the Odessa High School Class of 1953 and very much enjoyed planning and attending class reunions. She was an active member of St. Andrew Cumberland Presbyterian Church, having served as a ruling elder on the church session, taught Sunday school, was a member of the Christian Education Committee, chairperson of the Kitchen Committee, team leader of her team of ushers and past president and current historian of the Cumberland Presbyterian Women.
