Member of the North Carolina State House of Representatives from 1939-1941, 1943-1949 from Robeson County. Attended Stinson Institute and also studied at King's Business College. Veteran of the First World War, served as Mayor of Proctorville and was later Sunday school superintendent of the Proctorville Baptist Church. Also a member of the Robeson County School Board from 1949-1961. Chosen as Robeson County Man of the Year in 1961.
