Mrs. May D. Fikes, 97, of East Springfield, Died Sunday, Feb. 11, 1996 at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown.
Mrs. Fikes was born May 26, 1899, in Mohawk, the daughter of Leroy and Maude Ballard Dudleston. She was a 1917 graduate of Mohawk High School and 1921 graduate of Columbia University. For many years she was a pharmacist in Fort Plain.
In Oct. of 1935 she was married to Perry Fikes in Van Hornsville. He died in 1973.
Mrs. Fikes was a member of Otsego Chapter DAR Cooperstown, member and regent of General James Clinton Chapter DAR of East Springfield, member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Springfield Center and librarian at General James Clinton Library at East Springfield for several years.
She is survived by one son, Erwyn James Fikes of East Springfield.
Funeral service will be 11a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 14 (today) at Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley, the Rev. Norman Sieme to officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Herkimer, in spring. Calling hours were Tuesday Fev. 13, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Church at Springfield Center, General George Clinton Library at East Springfield or a charity of one's choice.
