Okie Lee Yates, age 92, of Honaker, KY., husband of the late Elizabeth Coleman Yates, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2012, at the Pikeville Medical Center, Pikeville, KY.
He was born October 21, 1919 in Robinson Creek, WV., a son of the late Winford and Evelyn Lawson Yates.
He was a retired coal miner and a member of the Church of Christ.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Kermit Yates and two sisters, Margie Kidd and Pina Williams.
He is survived by three sons, Danny (Bernetta) Yates, Wyandotte, MI., Estill (Nanetta) Yates and Terry Yates all of Honaker, KY., one daughter, Joann (Andre) Davet, Clayton, NC., three brothers, Corbett Yates, New London, OH., Denver Yates, Wheelwright, KY., and Wesley Yates, Honaker, KY., one sister, Jacquline Hill, Honaker, KY., eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2012, in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, with Ed Hurley officiating. Burial will follow in the Yates Family Cemetery, Honaker, KY.
