Ben F. Gibson, First Wheaton Mayor, Dies
Neosho, Mo., March 2 – Ben F. Gibson, 79 years old, first mayor of Wheaton, died at 10:45 o'clock this morning in Neosho.
Born in Barry County, Mr. Gibson established the town of Wheaton was the town's first mayor and for many years operated a retail store there. He later moved to Newton County and two years preceding his death resided in Kansas City. He had been in failing health eight years.
Surviving are a son, M.R. Gibson, city clerk of Neosho; a daughter, Mrs. Edna McGlothlin of Liberty; three grandsons, Harold Gibson of Neosho, Harry Gibson of Iola, Kan., and R.E. McGlothlin of Phoenix, Ariz., and two great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are in charge of the Clark-Bigham funeral home.
