Donald Dean Parker, 71, of Amarillo died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Hillside Christian Church Amarillo South Campus on Bell Street with Ronnie Woodward and Bob Bradshaw officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.

Donald was born Feb. 27, 1940, and raised in Amarillo; he lived here all of his life.

He was a member of Palo Duro High School Class of 1959. He married Nancy Jo Gibbins on Sept. 16, 1959, in Amarillo. Donald worked as a licensed journeyman plumber in Amarillo for many years. He was a lifelong member of Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 196. He worked for Quality Mechanical for 28 years before going to work for Pantex in 1993. He retired from Pantex in 2008.

Donald loved his Lord, his family and his church. His ministry was doing for others and sharing his skills with those who needed his help. He loved to garden, fish and watch sprint car racing. He loved life. Most of all, he enjoyed being Papa to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by his family, church family and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Lula Parker; and a sister, Thelma Ballard.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Parker of Amarillo; a son, Russell Parker of Amarillo; a daughter, Deborah Hornsby of Amarillo; two brothers, Bob Parker and wife Pauline of San Antonio and Morris Parker of Lampe, Mo.; two sisters, Ellen Hamilton of San Diego and Aelene Eitner of Wylie; three grandchildren, Kelsey, Alicia and Zachary; and three great-grandchildren, Kelton, Cordyen and Kenzlee.

The family suggests memorials be to Family Worship Center Building Fund, P.O. Box 8940, Amarillo, TX 79114.
