Dr. Clifford J. Gay Succumbs to Illness At Southside Home
Dr. Clifford J. Gay of 1277 Mayfair Road died yesterday at his residence following a brief illness. A native of Valdosta, Ga., he had lived here for the past five years. He moved here from Monticello where he practiced medicine. He had also practiced at Avon Park and Sarasota.
He was a member of the Duval County Medical Association and the American Medical Association. During World War II he served as a captain in the U. S. Army Medical Corps.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Ann Frishmeth Gay, three daughters, Misses Virginia Mae and Patricia Ann Gay of this city and Mrs. G. K. Jones, Raleigh, N. C.; a son Clifford J. Gay II of this city; three brothers, Dr. H. L. Gay of Jacksonville, Newton J. Gay of Orlando, and L. E. Gay of Miami; three sisters, Mrs. Ruby Lee King of Sanford, Mrs. Mildred Keeley of Miami, and Mrs. Glen Dora Burkhalter of California.
Funeral services will be held Monday morning at Mayfair Baptist Chapel. Arrangements will be under the direction of Hardage and Sons Funeral Home.
