Albany, NY Police Lieutenant. Finn a beloved patrol supervisor, died at Albany Medical Center Hospital where he had been treated since being shot three times on Dec. 23, 2003 while chasing a suspect following a convenience store robbery in the city's South End. He underwent numerous surgeries and had been on life support after suffering a brain hemorrhage the day before he died. He was the son of William T. and Mary M. Finn. In 1991, he joined the Albany Police Department. He became a detective in the juvenile unit in 1993, was promoted to sergeant in 1996 and became a lieutenant in 2001. Lt. Finn received two lifesaving awards from the Albany Police Department and was named Police Officer of the Year in 2000 by the Kiwanis Club. Lt. Finn commanded the Civil Disturbance Unit, was a member of the Emergency Services Team and was instrumental in creating the Children and Family Services Unit of the Albany Police Department. Lt. Finn is survived by his wife, Maura McNulty-Finn; his daughters, Clara Riley McNulty-Finn, 9 and Molly Rose McNulty-Finn, 20 months; his parents, William and Mary Finn of Clemson, S.C.
