Services for Junior Cecil (J. C.) Howe, 62, were held in the Loving Highway Church of Christ with Dwayne Spradlin officiating.

Mr. Howe was a member of the Loving Highway Church of Christ. He moved to Graham in 1956 from Olney, Texas.

Mr. Howe was a veteran of World War II serving as a Corporal.

Survived by his wife - Billie Jean Howe of Graham; one daughter - Geraldine Gilmore and husband Richard of Graham; three brothers - Frank Howe of Dallas, Earl Howe of Ralls, Lonnie Howe of Grand Prairie; two sisters - Lillian Royston of Seymour and Marie Ware of Dallas.

He was preceded in death by his parents - Willie Dewitt and Bertie Musgrave Howe, a brother - Chester Howe.


Note: About J.C. Howe

J.C. went in the Army June 2,1942. In September 1944 he went to Palau Island, it was a very bloody battle. The Marines were ahead of them. The Japanese killed a lot of the Marines and Army Boys. The Army boys were next to come in. J. C. was wounded on the Palau Island September 23, 1944. He was shot four times in arm, four times in leg, one time in the head that cracked his skull and lost his eye. He went under twenty three plastics surgerys and a number of skin grafts. He came home by hospital ship, it took three weeks to get back to the states. When back in states, he went to San Luis Obispo, CA and stayed in a veterans hospital for a while. Than he was taken to William Beaumont General Hospital, El Paso, Texas. J.C. stayed 20 months all together in the hospital. Date discharged, May 31,1946, at William Beaumont General Hospital, El Paso, Texas. He was Honorably Discharged. He was a CPL in the United State Army WWII and veteran. He received a Purple Heart.
