Leon Frederick "Lee" Aamold departed this life February 1, 2003. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on June 19, 1916 to Albert and Grace Aamold, who predeceased him, as did his brother Albert and sister Charlotte Robertson. Lee moved to Pearl River in 1922. He graduated from Pearl River High School in 1934, lettering in Baseball and Football. He married Dorothy Hahn June 28, 1936; she died September 22, 1970. On August 7, 1976, he married Louise Edwards at the Dutch Reformed Church in Piermont, NY. Lee was in the Army Air Force from 1942-1946, attaining the rank of Tech. Sergeant. He was a member of John M. Perry American Legion Post 1044, Sparkill, NY. Lee was a printing pressman, retiring from Federal Paper Board on January 12, 1979. He is survived by his wife Louise and her children Sheri and Thomas Wheeler of Richmond, VA; Janet and John McMahon of Schuylkillhaven, PA; Stacey and Robert Bendig of Middletown, NY and Chuck and Diane Edwards of Westbrookeville, NY; grandchildren: Leslie, Laura and Daniel Edwards, Katelyn and Andrew Bendig. His grandson Derek Wheeler died February 18, 1995. His great-grandson Nicholas Edwards Briski died March 14, 2000; he was stillborn. Also surviving him is his brother-in-law Harry Robertson, his nieces Janice Slachta and Karen Evans; his nephews Bart Roberston, Albert, Frank, Larry and Allen Aamold. From his first marriage: nephew Frank Warner; nieces Pat Coffman, Marion Casella and Barbara Schweizer and Nancy Rector; sister-in-law Ruth Worner. A special family: Ed, Lee, Jessica and Christina Morris of Pearl River and a longtime and dear friend, Ruth Bertschy of Spring Valley, NY; many in-laws from California, Alaska, Texas and Arkansas. Visiting will be Tuesday, 3-5 and 7-9 PM at the Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM Wednesday at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Airmont Cemetery in Airmont, NY.
