John was a Navy veteran of World War II. He had a degree in petroleum engineering and worked for Exxon Oil Co. in Texas, as well as in Libya and the United Arab Emirates.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, a son, Jonathan, and a sister, Laura.
He is survived by his wife, Courtney; a daughter, Christine West, and two granddaughters, Jennifer and Jona Beth Cross, and a brother, Jack.
Graveside rites are planned for Tuesday, March 22, 2005, in Trinity, Texas.
