David was the son of Jonathan and Albertine (Limbrough) Williams. He married Mary Estelle Munday and they may have had one child that died before 1900.

Funeral Services Today Afternoon
at 4 O'clock - Interment in Oakwood.

Mr. David J. Williams died Monday evening at 6:15 o'clock at his home on west Sharpe street, where he had been critically ill for some days. Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock. Interment was in Oakwood. The services were conducted by Dr. H. M Parker and Rev. E. W. Fox.
Mr. Williams was born in Davidson county, a son of J. J. and Albertine Williams, and was 59 years old February 3. He came to Statesville many years ago. At that time he was a carpenter and helped erect the Federal building here. he later took up other business. Up to six years ago he conducted the William Furniture store. On account of bad health, he sold this business and had not been actively engaged in anything since then. Through honest effort and industry he accumulated and invested in local enterprises. he was a director in the First National Bank at his death and other local enterprises. he made no pretense except to live honorably and deal squarely. When not at work, hunting and fishing were the only forms of recreation he engaged in or enjoyed.
Mr . Williams married Miss Estelle Munday, a daughter of the late W. F. Munday, of Statesville, who survives. Three brothers - Messrs. Rufus K. and J. W. Williams, of Davidson county, and W. D. Williams, of Pennsylvania-and two sisters-Mrs. Sarah Smith and Mrs. Virginia Grubb, of Davidson county-also survives.
