John B. (who most knew as J.B.) Pilgrim married Louise Aretta Belcher April 30, 1931 in Fulton County, GA. They had three children: Betty Louise who married Jesse Charles Shelander, Fulton County, GA; Barbara Ann who first married Eddie Lewis Beard, Yazoo County, MS, second married Roy R. Sams, Clayton County, GA; and James Edward who married Polly Ann Cater, Cherokee County, GA; all b Atlanta, Fulton Co, GA.

J.B. was the first son born to John Harvey Pilgrim and Rilla B. Trentham in Atlanta, Fulton County, GA. J.B. served as a Pvt in the US Army during World War II, and is shown on the right in the photo; served as John B. He was an honorable man who at age 33 was drafted in WWII, even with three children...obviously he could have gone to the Draft Board and had it reviewed. But he would not do it, said "they must need me, or I would not have been selected". He served in some heavy battles in Germany and spent time in England in the hospital with frozen hands and feet.

1945 discharge from the U S Army lists 27 Mar 1944 as date of entry into active service at Ft. McPherson, GA and 25 Oct 1945 date of separation at Camp Gordon, GA and Ardennes Rhineland Central Europe as battles and campaigns in Company A 55th Armd Engr. Battalion.. . Battle of the Bulge.
