Mrs. Anna Katherine Simpson Carpenter, 69, wife of John Carpenter, died this morning at her home in the Tranquility community following an illness of two months.
She was the daughter of the late Frank Simpson and Eliza Robinson Simpson. Surviving besides her husband are three daughters, Mrs. Emma Stair, Mrs. G. K. Shultz and Mrs. E. H. Guinn, all of Athens; two sons, W. F. of Ooltewah and T. H. of Niota; two brothers, John Simpson of Chattanooga and Wesley Simpson of Spring City. She was a member of the Tranquility Methodist Church.
The body will be taken to the home this afternoon and services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Tranquility Methodist church with the pastor, the Rev. B. F. McCracken officiating. Burial in the Tranquility cemetery.
Evans Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
