DAN L. GARRETT Sr.

A private funeral for Dan L. Garrett Sr. of Mill Valley, a retired insurance salesman, will be held.

Garrett, 85, died Thursday at a local hospital after an illness. He had lived many years in Santa Rosa before moving to Mill Valley eight months ago.

He had worked 50 years for New York Life. A native of the Oklahoma Territory, Garrett had also lived in Oregon and Berkeley before moving to Santa Rosa in 1953. He was a member of the Santa Rosa Lions Club.

Garrett was a veteran of World War I.

He is survived by his wife, Minnie E. Garrett of Mill Valley; a son, Dan L. Garrett Jr. of San Francisco, the former Synanon legal counsel; three daughters, Virginia Jagel of San Francisco, Alice Garrett of Marshall and Myra Garrett of London, England; and eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Russell and Gooch Funeral Chapel, Mill
