Grady Canter, 83, passed away Monday, March 06, 2006 in Abilene. His funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Wayne Oglesby officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park.

Viewing and visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM on Tuesday at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 HWY 277 South.

Mr. Canter was born on November 26, 1922 in Delta County. He moved to Anson at the age of 12 and after graduation from Anson High School enlisted in the U.S. Army serving during WWII. He married Connye Counts on March 28, 1947 and worked for Dow Chemical for over 30 years retiring in 1980. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying many hours of hunting, fishing and camping with his family. He will be missed.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Connye of Abilene; one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Paul Doty of Abilene; three grandchildren, Sarah Proctor and husband Chris of Abilene, Jeffrey Doty and wife Traci of Ft. Collins, Colorado, Elizabeth Davis and husband David of Abilene; three great grandchildren, Noah and Jack Proctor and Skylar Davis along with numerous nieces and nephews.
