Fourth of eight children of Russell Newman Wallace and Rachel Armstrong Wallace;

Grandson of James Wallace and Catherine "Katy" Newman Wallace and of Archibald Armstrong and Elizabeth "Betsey" McCutcheon Armstrong;

Great-Grandson of Robert Wallace and Esther Boyd Wallace, of Leroy Newman and Mary Brown Newman, of William Armstrong and Margaret "Peggy" Jameson Armstrong and of Joseph R. McCutcheon and Nancy Youell McCutcheon.

His Mother, Rachel, passed away in 1869, (a day after giving birth to his youngest sister, who died only 2 months later) when Thomas was twelve years old. The following year, his father married again, and Mary Margaret Coffman became his step-mother.

Thomas is the brother (Mother, Rachel) of James Augustus Wallace (Wife, Nora Engledove Wallace), William Armstrong Wallace (Wife Mary Agnes "Minnie" Hobson Wallace), Alexander D H "Alec" Wallace (Wife, Nannie Coffman Wallace), Ella Virginia "Eileen" Wallace (Mrs. Henry Hanson), John Morgan Wallace (1st Wife, Nellie Beaty Wallace, 2nd Wife, Daisey Walser Wallace), Lula Katherine Wallace (Mrs. Samuel Miller Davidson) and Rachel Elizabeth Wallace;

Half-brother (step-mother, Mary Margaret Coffman Wallace) of Minnie Gertrude Wallace (Mrs. George Washington Yeago), Charles Eugene Wallace (wife, Fannie MacKay Wallace), Orlena Wallace (who died at the age of 2 years of whooping cough and pneumonia), Nettie Wallace (Mrs. Louis McNulty), Albert Newman Wallace (wife Lula Adella Brownlee Wallace), Maude M. Wallace (Mrs. John Olin Campbell), Allen Boyd Wallace (wife Florence Stringfellow Wallace) and Olive Cooper Wallace (Mrs. Bernard Peyton Allen).

Step-brother of Edward Thomas Towberman (wife Emma Jones & later Florence Blanche Lair) and of William Kenneth Batis (Wife, Willie Archer Lewis Batis).

Thomas was born in Little Calf Pasture in Augusta County and grew up in the Craigsville area of Augusta County.

In 1881, Thomas was working as a telephone operator for Norfolk and Western Railroad and living with his brother William in Lynchburg.

On October 19, 1892, Thomas married Alice "Blanche" Phelps in Lynchburg;
By 1900, they were living in Roanoke and Blanche's Mother, Sallie Phelps, was living with them, as well as Blanche's nephew, Burnell Falwell, her sister Ida's son. They also employed one servant.

Thomas Wallace worked as a Clerk for the Express Company and resided in Roanoke, Virginia.

Thomas died in July 1912 in Roanoke, Virginia, of "Pulmonary Tuberculosis". He was 54 years of age. His brother William had him brought back to Lynchburg to be buried with other family members at Presbyterian Cemetery.

Thomas Archibald Wallace …… beloved Husband, Son, Brother, Grandson, Son-in-law, Uncle, Nephew, Cousin and friend to many.

He is fondly remembered by all of the families and friends who knew him and those who have known of him through the stories passed along through the generations.
