Benton, LA. Norwood A. "Buddy" Dalrymple, 85 passed away on Friday, April 30, 2010. Funeral service will be Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at Red River Baptist Church in Benton, LA at 11:00 am with Reverend James Hoover officiating. Interment will follow in the Lay Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, May 3, 2010 at Hill Crest Funeral Home in Haughton, LA from 6:00 until 8:00 pm.

Buddy was a lifelong resident of Benton, LA and a member of the Red River Baptist Church. He bravely served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a lifelong cattle farmer and had a passion for gospel music, quartet singing and square dancing. Buddy retired from Sun Oil Company as a gas plant operator.

Buddy is preceded in death by his parents, Wilburn and Hattie Dalrymple, wife Marvis Dalrymple, daughter, Hazel Leachman, and sisters Jean McKinney and Mary Lynn Wise. He is survived by his son-in-law Jack Leachman of Benton, LA, granddaughters, Gail Temple and husband Tony of Clyde, TX, Jackie Maggio and husband Sam of Benton, LA, Marcia Boulia and husband Doug of Durham, NC, Christie Mitchell and husband Jerrod of Benton, LA, seven great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and three nephews.

Pallbearers will be Larry Wise, George McKinney, Billy Dalrymple, Don Vaughn, Greg Coker, and Craig Coker. Honorary pallbearer will be Jerry Wise.

Memorials may be made to Red River Baptist Church or the Lay Cemetery Fund.
