Raymond M. Reed, 68, Elm St., Stowe, died at 4:20 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, 1985 at the Pottstown Memorial Medical Center, Pottstown. His death followed a brief illness.
He was born on April 28, 1917 in Altoona, the son of Arthur S. and Minerva (Morren) Reed. He was united in marriage to Georgia S. Strong on Jan. 11, 1945 in Altoona. His wife survives.
Mr. Reed is survived by the following: a daughter, Mrs. Michael (Cheryl) Pollick, Pottstown, and two step children, Linn B. Smeal, Rochester, N.Y. and Mrs. Leonard (Barbara) Long, Stowe.
He is also survived by two grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
A member of the St. John United Church of Christ, Pottstown. He was employed for 34 years by the Robinson-Clay Co., Pottstown.
A U.S. Army veteran, he served with the Civilian Conservation Corps and Merrill's Marauders. He was a member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors, Victor S. Stichter FA & M Lodge No. 254, Nativity Commandery No. 71 and Royal Arch Masons No. 271.
Mr. Reed was a volunteer for seven years with the Meals on Wheels Program, Pottstown.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 5 from the Albert N. Masood Funeral Chapel, Saxton, the Rev. Dr. Max Nusscher officiating. Interment will be made in the Protestant Cemetery, Dudley.
Friends may call at the funeral chapel from 12 noon to 1 p.m. Thursday.
