Obituary printed in THE SEATTLE TIMES (11/12/2011): Leonard Eugene "Bucky" Emerson of Kirkland WA, born in Raton, New Mexico 27 November 1938, passed in peace at his home, from cancer, in Kirkland, Washington, in the presence of his family and loved ones on November 9, 2011. Buck served with honor in the US Coast Guard, then attended the Colorado School of Mines to become a land surveyor. He was married to his surviving wife, Norma, for 41 years. Buck was possessed of a brilliant and analytical mind, a keen sense of humor and an unquestionable personal ethic. A member of Mensa, he eagerly embraced technological innovation, and was a vocal proponent of future developments. He enjoyed puzzles and social gatherings, and was adept at the art of storytelling. The family will hold a private memorial dinner. Remembrances may be made to the American Lung Association. He is preceded in death by his brother, Bob. He is survived by his wife, Norma; his mother, Edith; stepmother, Lucy Emerson; his only daughter, Terzah Farley and Granddaughter, Elyana Farley of San Antonio, TX; and nephew Sean Emerson of Vancouver, WA.
NOTE: He always celebrated his birthday on the 26th of November. His birth certificate states 27th, but his mother swears that it was the 26th.
