Golden Benjamin Smith, 81, a retired Hinton farmer, died at his home Saturday afternoon. Mr. Smith had been in failing health three years.
He was born May 7, 1892 and was a son of the late Samuel C. and Rebecca Humes Smith.
Mr. Smith also had been a game manager and had been working with the U.S. Forest Service since retiring.
On Aug. 16, 1916, he married the former Agnes Miller, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Geneva Showalter of Harrisonburg and Mrs. Alma Cook of Portsmouth; two sons, John Ralph Smith at home and Elwood Smith of Jacksonville, Fla.; three sisters, Mrs. Ollie McDorman and Mrs. Sallie Joseph, both of Hinton, and Mrs. Rose Booth of Culpeper; two brothers, Vernon Smith of Creston, Ill. and Alfred E. Smith of Dayton, and four grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday at Mt. Bethel Church of the Brethren by the Rev. Gene Knicely. Burial will be in Mt. Horeb cemetery.
The body is at the McMullen Funeral Home, and friends may
call there or at the Smith home.
The casket will not be open at the church.
