Born in Pinewood, SC, "W.M." was the son of Willard Mack Scott Sr and Pearl J.(Ardis) Scott.
While living in Sumter, he worked at Claremont Oil Company - then moved to Harleyville, SC, where he became a charter member of the Harleyville Southern Methodist Church and worked as a dispatcher and shipping supervisor for Gifford-Hill Cement Company. Following that, he and Rose moved to Nashville, TN, where he worked in Guest Services at Shoney's Inn and Hyatt Place Opryland, and was recognized as Employee of the Year for his gregarious nature and engaging manner. He also drove entertainer coaches for several music artists.
Surviving are his wife, Rose Marie (Russell) Scott; a daughter Cindy (Roger) Quattlebaum of St. Matthews, SC; a son Lang (Linda) Scott of Old Hickory, TN; grandchildren Bart (Sharie) Quattlebaum, Brett, Clay and Barry Quattlebaum, Hillary and Rylee Scott; and great grandchildren Ryan, Cale and Natalie Quattlebaum.
He was preceded in death by a son, Willard Barry; his mother, two brothers, Charles Eugene and Joel Dreyfus Scott (FAG# 100377053); and a sister, Iris S. Lowder of Sumter.
Funeral services will be held at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home Chapel in Sumter, SC.
Burial will follow in the Pinewood Cemetery.
