Annabel B. Baer was born March 14, 1909 to John S. and Maud Brown Calkins, near Westminister, Colorado. Married Oscar W. Baer June 2, 1934 in Arvada, Colorado. Received elementary education in a one room school, and secondary education at Arvada High School. Graduated with a BS degree in Home Economics in 1933 from Colorado State University at Fort Collins. Taught one year in a one room grade school near Hudson, Colorado. Member of the Wasatch Presbyterian Church for 45 years, serving one term as ruling elder, and one term on the board of deacons. Active member of the Wasatch Presbyterian Women's Association, and Mariner's ships. A member and past president of the chapter S-P.E.O sisterhood, and past president of the state Chapter P.E.O. Member of Mizpah, Chapter No.5 and duel member and past matron of Mountain Chapter 2-Order of Eastern Star. Member of Midvale Assembly No. 247 of the Social Order of the Beauceant. Served several years as Cub Scout den mother.
Survived by husband and three sons, Richard Walter (Darlene) of Salt Lake City; Alvin Calkins (Patricia of Pleasanton, Calif.; and Dr. Larry Dean (DeAnne) of Tacoma, Wash.; 10 grandchildren; and 15 1/2 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Maud G. Ogilvie of Lander, Wyo.; and Caroline Ogilvie of Arvada, Colo. Preceded in death by brother, John R. Calkins.
A viewing will be held at Evans & Early Mortuary, Wednesday April 17, from 7 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 18, 1996, 12 noon, at Wasatch Presbyterian Church, 1626 So. 1700 East. Friends may call at Evans & Early Mortuary Wednesday, April 17, 1996 from 7 to 8 p.m. and at the church one hour prior to services.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Intermountain Unit Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, or Knight Templar Eye Foundation. Burial, Wasatch lawn Memorial Park. Directors, Evans & Early.
