Clara moved with her family to Houston, Texas in 1919 and lived there until her death at age 95. She grew up in the Heights neighborhood of Houston and had many, many friends and pleasant memories. Clara did not have children of her own, but was dedicated to the children and grandchildren of her brother, Bennett James Roberts.
Clara married Percival Burton Franz on July 12, 1930. Burton died suddenly of a heart attack in 1946, age 38. Clara was a widow for many years. She worked for American General Insurance Company where she was a valued employee.
Clara's second marriage was to Clester Sebron McClain on November 30, 1951 at the home of her brother, Bennett Roberts. Her husband, "Mac" McClain, was the brother of the minister of West End Baptist Church. They were married by his brother, Dr. Charles McClain. Clara was a very dedicated lifetime member and a teacher in West End Baptist Church. She was an accomplished student of the Bible and a wonderful Christian lady.
Clara died at age 95 and had lived a good, happy and productive life dedicated to her family, church, work and friends. She is buried with her parents, husbands and many family members in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
