Mr. Herman F Thacker, 90, went to be with his Lord at the Hospice Home of North Carolina in Wentworth, NC. He was the son of the late Jesse Franklin Thacker and Laura Esther O'Dell Thacker.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ethel Thacker Wilson and Mozelle Thacker Pulliam.

He graduated from Ridgeway High School in Ridgeway, VA and served in the Army during World War II from 1943 to 1945. He was a Technician 5th Grade with the 482nd Engineer Maintenance Company and served in Normandy, Northern France, The Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe.

He received the Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with a silver service star, World War II Victory medal, Honorable Service Lapel Button and Marksman Badge with carbine, machine gun and rifle bars.

He worked at American Furniture Company as an electrician for 40 years and retired as the electrical superintendent of maintenance.

He attended Morgan Ford Christian Church.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Dorothy O'Dell Thacker of the home, two daughters LaVerne Tullock of Greensboro, NC and Janet Boardwine of Ridgeway, one granddaughter and a sister Ada Thacker O'Dell of Ridgeway.

Funeral services were held at Fair Funeral Home in Eden, NC with Ministers Bedford Motley and Thomas Joyce officiating.

Burial was in Mountain View Cemetery in Ridgeway.
