Mr. Doty, 86, El Dorado Springs, was born in Benton, Ill., one of four children born to Millard Frank and Julia (Lipe) Doty. He was of Scotch, Irish and Indian ancestry and received his grammar school and senior high education in the public school system at Benton. Age 17 or 18, after being asked to manage a service station, he moved to Chester, Ill, where he met Winifred Dorothy Schuchert in 1942.
In June 1943, he entered the U.S. Army, serving in World War II as a member of the Signal Corps. He was active from June 1943 until honorably discharged March 1946. He served at several posts, including the European Theatre of Operations Panama, the Philippine Islands and Asia. After returning home, he returned to his previous management of the station for a short time and then acquired employment at the International Shoe Company in Chester, Ill. He became engaged to Winnie, and they married Aug. 8, 1947, in Chester, Ill.
The couple resided in Chester, Ill., until Frank's transfer to the International Shoe Company in El Dorado Springs in 1951, as a fitting room foreman. He attended Community Church in El Dorado Springs until his health prevented him from doing so. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion and, in earlier years, the El Dorado Springs auxiliary police force.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Winnie Doty; children, Frank Doty Jr. and Kathy; and two grandsons, Matt and Ryan.
No services are planned as cremation was requested. Arrangements are under the direction of Sheldon Funeral Home, El Dorado Springs.
