Douglas Lee Arnold, 71, a resident of The Dalles, Ore., died Saturday, September 17, 2011.
He was born March 29, 1940, in Shenandoah, Iowa, to Allie Bert Arnold and Claira Belle (Moralles) Arnold. He grew up in California and the Columbia Gorge where he graduated high school.
He mar ried Sandra Darnielle on March 5, 1994, in Vancouver, Wash. He was a lifetime member of United Transportation Union No. 1238. He loved coffee and coffee shops, and was an avid gun collector and shooter.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Darnielle Arnold, The Dalles; his daught e r s, Kim Arnold, The Dalles; Debra Pat -tersen and her husband Jeremiah, Battle Ground, Wash.; and Shelly Goodell and her husband Daniel, Washougal, Wash.; his grandchildren, Daniel Goodell, Amy MacArthur and her husband David, Kori Cates, and Hunter Cates; six great-grandchildren; his sister, Chilia Hawkins and her husband David, Walla Walla, Wash.; and three nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandmother and aunt. He was joined in death by his eight year old son, Douglas Clark Arnold.
Viewing will be Saturday, Sept. 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Spencer, Libby and Powell Chapel.
Graveside service will be Friday, Sept. 30, at 11 a.m. at IOOF Threemile Cemetery with Pastor Tim Foster officiating.
A celebration of life will follow the graveside service at 1 p.m. at the Eagles Lodge.
Donations can be made at any Wells Fargo Bank to the "Doug and Dougie Arnold Memorial Fund."
