Herman Wells Sr., 79, died early Tuesday morning in the Bulloch Memorial Hospital after a long illness. The Bulloch County native was a retired farmer and a member of New Hope United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Verna Hagan Wells, Statesboro; one daughter, Betty Ann NeSmith, Brooklet; three sons, Winton Wells and Randy Wells, both of Statesboro, and Gary R. Wells, Portal; Two sisters, Grace Overturff, Statesboro and Ruth Saba, Wilmington Island; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held today at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Hodges-Turner Funeral Home with the Rev. James Aycock officiating. Burial will follow in the New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery.
