James Carl Stockton Passes
James Carl Stockton, age nearly 86 years, passed away at St. Clare hospital at 8:30 Friday morning, after an illness extending more than six years. He suffered a stroke of paralysis a number of years ago and has been a patient at the hospital for about six years.
Mr. Stockton was well known to a large number of county residents as he came to Montana and this county in 1913 and has since resided here. Until his retirement, he was engaged in farming.
Mr. Stockton was born Aug. 6, 1957, in Cumberland county, Kentucky, where he spent his early life. He then went to Cloud county, Kansas, where in 1883 he was united in marriage to Malinda Clark, who passed away July 4, 1891. He later moved to Perry, Oklahoma, where he was located when he decided to move to Montana.
He is survived by the following children: Mrs. S. A. Diebold, Perry, Okla.; E. A. Stockton, Ronan, Mont.; H. A. Stockton, Aladdin, Wyo.; Mrs. Guy C. Brown and Mrs. A.G. Hughes, both of Loma. He is also survived by a brother, L. S. Stockton, of Spavinau, Okla.; and 26 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the Louther mortuary this afternoon at 2 p.m., and will be conducted by the Rev. H. Gravenor, pastor of the Methodist church. Burial will be made in Riverside cemetery. The relatives have the sincere sympathy of all in their bereavement.
