Robert was born July 16, 1900, the oldest of four children, to Sidney C Epting and Minnie Bickley of Chapin, SC. Robert's three sisters were: Marie, Mildred (Pope),and Roberta.

Robert was a husband, a father, and an educator. He earned a BS degree from Newberry College in South Carolina and a MS degree from the Un of South Carolina. He was a coach, science teacher, and principal of a number of schools in South Carolina, Georiga, and Florida. He retired from education as the principal of Hilliard High School in Hilliard, Fl. During WWII he took leave from education and helped build troop ships as a welder at the ship yards in Jacksonville, Fl. Robert and his wife Zoe had five children: Bobbie Mae(Karam), Robert Jr., William Orin, Dalton Drayton, and Richard Marion.

Robert's middle name is "Everette". His son's and grandson's who were given his same name spell their middle name "Everett" (probably a misunderstanding by their parents)
