U.S. Congressman. He graduated from State Teachers College, in 1904, from Jefferson Medical College, in 1909 and practiced medicine in Donora, Pennsylvania. During World War I, he served as a First Lieutenant with the 218th Ambulance Company, 12th Division, U.S. Army. After the war, he practiced medicine, was burgess of Donora, (1922-26, 41-42) and postmaster of Donora, (1933-38). In 1943, he was elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-eighth Congress, serving until 1945. An unsuccessful candidate for re-nomination, he resumed the practice of medicine and was Sheriff of Washington County, Pennsylvania, (1945-57, 61-65).
